Ten teams from all over the country will vie for the National Finals of the Rebisco Volleyball League 2024 at Gameville in Mandaluyong City November 22 to 25. From 480 participating squads, the largest privately run tournament for high school girls in the country is down to the top teams of each region.

Looking to defend its title is powerhouse Bacolod Tay Tung of Western Visayas, along with University of San Jose-Recoletos of Central Visayas, and Linao High School of Eastern Visayas.

Representing Luzon are Kings Montesorri School from Metro Manila, University of Batangas from southern Luzon, Naga College Foundation from the Bicol Region, and Santa Cruz Academy of Lubao Inc. from northern Luzon.

Coming all the way from Mindanao are Sto. Niño National High School from southern Mindanao, Corpus Christi School from northern Mindanao, and Notre Dame of Dadiangas University of central Mindanao.

Creamline duo Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza believe that the RVL is a big boost for young players, especially from those who are coming from the province.

“Sobrang laking tulong para sa mga youth na ma-expose sila [sa competition] and maipakita nila ang talent nila. Kasi from province dati ang nilalaruan lang talaga, ‘yung pinakamataas na, is Palarong Pambansa,” said Pons, who hailed from Talisay, Negros Occidental.

“Malaking bagay ‘yung RVL sa kabataan, lalo na ang volleyball sa Philippines nagiging career na siya. So ‘yung mga bata, may ilu-look up sila na liga and then pwede nilang ituloy ‘yun in the future,” added Atienza.

In addition to the trophies, this year’s top four teams will be awarded cash prizes.

The champion will take home P100,000, the first runner up will get P50,000, the second runner up will receive P30,000, and the third runner up will be given P10,000.

Meanwhile, with just one day rest, the top four teams and two guest teams from the USA and Thailand will see action in the RVL Invitationals from November 27 to 30 also at Gameville in Mandaluyong City.

Northern California Volleyball Association and Nakornnonthaburi Volleyball Team will spice up the competition.
