Our Snaps: Sisi Rondina and the best One Sports photos this week

Sports are a goldmine for incredible photos, from awe-inspiring action shots to heartwarming moments.

Through the lens of One Sports photojournalist RM Chua, relive this week’s top photos capturing the action in the PBA, PVL, and East Asia Super League.

A FOUR-POINT CHANCE

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, in this case this shot is worth two emotions as NorthPort’s Arvin Tolentino celebrate a big shot, while Meralco’s Akil Mitchell thinks otherwise.

SLAM DUNK

The EASL not only present unique opportunities to pit champion teams from neighboring leagues against each other, regulations are also more open for photojournalists.

This shot was achieved with the use of a floor remote camera, a set up that’s typically not allowed in other local leagues.

HEATED EXCHANGE

Coach Yeng Guiao is one of the best the PBA has to offer, but he’s also prone to some outbursts. A chance encounter, his heated exchange with a referee is captured before his eventual ejection from a recent PBA Commissioner’s Cup game.

BOSS D IS BACK

A boss-level shot for one Deanna Wong as she made her winning PVL season debut for Choco Mucho after an injury layoff.

FATHER AND SON

At its core, the PBA is the Philippines’ national past time. Here, a father and son have a tender moment as they watch their beloved Ginebra Gin Kings take on Finals rivals TNT.

EYES ON THE PRIZE

“In all honesty, I'm just in awe with this photo. I saw a scramble on the floor and just took a burst of the photo focusing on the ball. After looking at a lot of photos, I ended up getting a well-framed shot with both players. It's one of those moments where you have to be ready to just press.”

POY “HEARS” IT FROM NSD NATION

Poy Erram was the recipient of jeers from fans during the TNT-Ginebra Governors’ Cup Finals last year. In their first meeting since, the polarizing center appears to want to hear some again as the Tropang Giga beat the Gin Kings anew.

LOCK DOWN

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson vs. Justin Brownlee has emerged as the premier PBA import rivalry. Here is a clean, sharp photo of RHJ locking down JB on a play.

RATLIFFE’S ROAR

The thrill and the agony, classic sports emotions.

SHADOW SHOT

A trip up to the general admission section is always worth it, especially for new perspectives such as this one.

“You always want to think differently or produce different types of photos that can still engage the viewers.”

NO CONTROVERSY THIS TIME

PLDT gets to celebrate this time after a quick sweep of Akari, very far from the scenes of the last time both teams met in the PVL.

SISI ON THE COVER

“Just a well-framed shot of Sisi spiking with the PVL All-Filipino backdrop. It was a really wide shot, and I tried different types of crop where I could end up with a good photo.”
