In the showdown between spitfire Filipino imports, Carl Tamayo shone brighter.

Tamayo’s Changwon LG Sakers nipped SJ Belangel’s Daegu KOGAS Pegasus, 69-67, in the Korean Basketball League Thursday, Jan. 30.

Tamayo came through with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Sakers, who reached the 20-win mark after 33 games.

It was Yang Jun-seok, though, who played the hero role in the dying minutes.

After getting a high screen, Jun-seok simply blitzed his way to the basket for the go-ahead layup with still 1:28 left to play.

Daegu had the chance to steal the game, but Andrew Nicholson forced a shot from the three-point area with Tamayo all over him.
