The Criss Cross King Crunchers live to fight another day after escaping the Cignal HD Spikers via a five-set thriller in Game 2 of the 2025 Spikers' Turf Open Conference Finals.
The Criss Cross King Crunchers will not go down that easily, forcing a winner-take-all Game 3 against the Cignal HD Spikers in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference Finals.
After being dealt their first loss in the conference, the King Crunchers responded with a five-set victory against the HD Spikers in Game 2, 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 22-25, 15-12, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Friday, April 4.
Despite allowing Cignal to force a fifth set, Criss Cross showed great composure to deny the reverse sweep.
Trailing 4-7 in the final frame, the King Crunchers went on a 4-0 blast to retake the lead.
The two teams would continue to exchange attacks and errors. But tied at 11-all, the King Crunchers--led by Jaron Requinton--pounced on the HD Spikers for a 3-0 run to reach match point.
Jau Umandal would get one back for Cignal but Kim Malabunga would seal the victory with a running attack.
Jude Garcia led the way for Criss Cross with 25 points and 21 excellent receptions, while Jaron Requinton and Nico Almendras added 17 markers each.
Game 3 is set on Sunday, April 6, still at the PhilSports Arena.
