Commissioner Willie Marcial will also summon all the PBA players involved in the exhibition match.
Right now, the status of JR Quiñahan with the NLEX Road Warriors is up in the air.
Coach Frankie Lim said the management is still investigating the brawl during an exhibition game in Cebu, which involved Quiñahan and former teammate Beau Belga of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
The video of the NLEX big man and a foreign player exchanging punches went viral on Sunday. In the same clip, Belga is also seen throwing the ball at the said foreigner.
“Too soon for a sanction kasi kailangan makausap mo muna, malaman mo lahat. May imbestigasyon pa,” Lim told News5’s Ian Suyu on Sunday.
Lim bared Quiñahan has not been joining the team’s regular practice since getting surgery on his Achilles. That’s why Lim was shocked upon seeing the video of his ward looking like he has already recovered from the injury.
“He’s supposed to be injured kasi nagpa-opera ng Achilles 'yun. Pumupunta sa practice namin nagpapa-rehab, strengthening, tapos minsan shooting,” Lim bared.
“But he never joined us in our regular practices. So, nagulat ako biglang nag larong labas.”
The firebrand mentor also admitted the Cebuano bruiser didn’t inform the management about playing in the said match, which is clearly a violation of team and league rules.
“Hindi pinapayagan ‘yan. Bawal ‘yan,” he said.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the league will summon the players who suited up in the same game, including Magnolia Hotshots’ Jio Jalalon and NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick.
“Papatawag ko sila. Mag-explain sila by next week siguro,” Marcial said.
