He might want to throw his name in the hat for the Draft this time.
For someone who has not applied for the PBA Draft, this NLEX Road Warriors newbie made a good account of himself.
Meet Dominick Fajardo.
Part of NLEX’s lineup for the PBA on Tour, Fajardo showed he can mix it up well in the 5x5 competition in the 93-88 loss to Blackwater Bossing on Sunday.
Although an undersized forward at 6-feet, Fajardo threw his weight around and finished with 10 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists in a game that saw NLEX coach Frankie Lim became the first to use the “head coach challenge.”
Fajardo was shelved for the most part of the fourth quarter where the Bossing extinguished repeated runs by the Road Warriors.
Don Trollano tried to salvage the game for NLEX with a left corner triple off a well-executed play, 99-92. But time simply wasn’t on its side as the Bossing went on to win the game behind Mike Ayonayon.
Before this stint, the 29-year-old Fajardo had been playing for the Cavitex Braves in PBA 3x3. FIBA ranked him 21st in 3x3 play in the Philippines with 14,913 points.
His defense, though, was still suspect. But who knows, with Sunday’s showing, Fajardo might want to consider joining this year’s draft.
