He didn’t need to be at his best in Sunday’s win against Ginebra.
Cjay Perez is trying to shake off the cobwebs ahead of Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp for the FIBA World Cup.
To get his rhythm back, Perez suited up in San Miguel Beermen’s 90-78 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA on Tour on Sunday.
“Tagal ko na napahinga e. Kumukuha lang ako ng rhythm. And siyempre sina Coach [Jorge Gallent], kailangan nila ng tao, kasi walang iba e,” said Perez, who is coming off a stint with the national team in the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
But the man dubbed as “The Predator” is not going to play for San Miguel the whole tour.
After scoring 15 points against Ginebra, Perez said he will see action in the Beermen’s next two assignments against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Meralco Bolts on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
Then he will join the national team’s build up which starts this week.
“Laro ako ngayon, tapos Wednesday and sa Saturday. 'Yun na 'yung last. Balik ako Gilas. Pero pa-practice pa rin ako sa Gilas sa mga susunod na araw,” he said.
He added: “Ginawa ko lang din naman 'to para maka-prepare ako sa practice ng Gilas din.”
