Despite a tough 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Chiara Permentilla still found some positives about the Nxled Chameleons campaign.

The Chameleons wrapped up the conference on a high note, sweeping a depleted Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18, in the play-in tournament at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, March 13.

Though Nxled finished with a 1-1 record in Pool B, they ultimately missed out on advancing to the next round.

Nonetheless, Permentilla, who finished with nine points in the win, took away some important lessons from the extended conference.

"The biggest learning is probably to step up and be more accountable sa sarili para during the game, alam mo na gagawin mo yung best mo. Ganun din yung mindset ng teammates mo para lahat gagana," Perementilla shared during the post-game press conference.

"From this conference, dapat natuto na kami kung paano ihandle yung losses at kung paano namin itatranslate yung lessons into actions para manalo sa next conference."

The Chameleons finished with just two wins in total, struggling against some of the stronger teams in the league.

But as they continue to navigate the season with their young squad, Permentilla believes the team is heading in the right direction.

"Magandang bagay din na napagdaanan namin ‘to kasi wala naman na kaming ibang pupuntahan kundi umangat na from here," the Nxled team captain said. "When the next conference starts, we need to have higher expectations for ourselves. Kailangan alam mo sa sarili mo na ibibigay mo lahat and magwowork hard ka every day for the benefit of the team."

Adjusting to a new system was also part of their journey, but Permentilla praised the team’s willingness to embrace changes.

Before the conference, Nxled tapped Italian coach Ettore Guidetti to spearhead the team’s rebuild.

"'Di naman bago sa amin na may bagong coach at bagong teammates every after conference, so in-embrace lang namin 'yung sistema ni coach," she explained. "Lahat sumusunod, walang hesitant, at may tiwala kami sa kaniya."

With the lessons learned from this campaign, Permentilla is confident that Nxled will come back stronger in the next conferences, ready to turn their setbacks into success.

For now, the Chameleons will look towards the upcoming PVL Draft set in June.
