Newsome knows its important to support women’s basketball leagues.
Chris Newsome recently took the time off his busy training schedule to pay a visit to a brand-new women’s basketball league here in Metro Manila, the Women’s G-Ballers League.
In an Instagram post, Newsome shared a video of him coming out to support the female hoopers who were playing at the Belarmino Sports Complex in Quezon City.
The Meralco Bolts guard, who was recently included in Gilas Pilipinas’ 21-man pool, also took photos with the teams and wished them good luck in their games.
The female basketball league recently held its Season 1 finals, which saw the Keng's go against the Dolphins.
“Cheers to the women who get to showcase their talents and share their love for the game,” Newsome wrote in his post. “Praying you all stay safe, compete at the highest level, and always give your best.”
Newsome even donated P2,000 to the female hooper who can make a half-court shot.
After several tries by the players, two eventually got the half-court shot to go in—much to the delight of the Fil-Am guard.
He's down 4,000 bucks after this visit, but Newsome has surely gained points for showing the love to the lady ballers.
