The San Miguel Beermen made a big change ahead of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup debut on November 15.

The Beermen announced they are bringing in Ivan Aska to replace Tyler Stone, who had to go due to family matters according to an article posted on the league's official website.

In the same article, SMB governor Robert Non said Aska is already in the Philippines but has yet to join the team’s practice.

With the change, San Miguel becomes the latest to make an import switcheroo following the Meralco Bolts, who previously jettisoned Feron Hunt in favor of Suleiman Braimoh after the team's mediocre campaign in a tournament in Doha, Qatar.

The Beermen, it seems, is getting a veteran internationalist as it looks to win back the Commissioner's Cup title that it last won in 2019.

Although undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-8 US Virgin Islander has a lot of professional experience under his belt.

The 33-year-old Murray State product had stops at countries like Puerto Rico, France, Israel, and South Korea.

In 2015, he also won the MVP award in the FIBA CBC Championship playing for the US Virgin Islands.

With Aska in tow, the Beermen look to open the new season against the NLEX Road Warriors on a winning note. Game time is set at 8 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
