The FiberXers might be in for a thrilling ride.
The Converge FiberXers have been stirring things up in the PBA since their arrival in 2022. And it looks like they’re planning to keep it that way with their latest acquisition: two-time PBA MVP Willie Miller.
Known in his prime as "Thriller," Miller is expected to beef up the Converge coaching staff entering the 48th season of the PBA as one of the team's assistant coaches.
Converge announced its signing of Thriller Miller on Tuesday on the team’s official Instagram account.
“#PurpleBlooded: Let's welcome to the team, Assistant Coach Willie Miller Jr.,” the FiberXers posted.
Miller will join another two-time PBA MVP in Danny Ildefonso as part of Ayo’s coaching staff. Not one to mince words, expect the feisty point guard to show the players some tough love to guide them through their development. The FiberXers will sure be banking on Miller’s wealth of experience to help them go deeper in the playoffs in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup and beyond.
In Season 47, Converge made it to the playoffs in all three conferences but failed to make it past the quarterfinals.
Back in his playing career, Miller was at his best statistically during the PBA’s 33rd PBA season, where he averaged 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals.
With him helping out, it probably won't be a surprise if the team's talented but young guards, like Alec Stockton and rookie Schonny Winston, start playing true to their immense potential.
