The kids were elated as they got to interact with their idols.
It’s the season of giving, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel took a break from everything basketball to do just that.
As part of San Miguel Corporation’s Better World Tondo project, Ginebra gave gifts and love during an outreach program in an orphanage facility in Smokey Mountain.
More then receiving gifts, the kids were elated to see their PBA idols in the flesh.
Look:
Jared Dillinger, who finds solace in fan interactions, definitely had a fun time. In a tweet on Tuesday, Dillinger posted pictures of him with the children in the said facility.
“Here at the better world smokey mountain orphanage facility. Giving back during the holidays,” he said.
Ginebra skipper LA Tenorio, who just returned to the fold after months-long battle against cancer, shared the same sentiment.
This was a much-needed buffer for the defending Commissioner's Cup champs, who are coming off a heart-wrenching loss against the San Miguel Beermen last Friday.
Moreover, this meaningful trip could potentially remind Ginebra how big its role is in the community—something the Ginebra teams of old, especially in the time of Robert Jaworksi, took to heart. It could also rejuvenate the league's most popular ballclub in time for its big game against the Meralco Bolts on Friday, with Tenorio and company fighting to stay at the middle of the pack and possibly be in contention for the top four even with its slow start.
Game time is set at 8 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
