Converge FiberXers guard Adrian Wong is taking a sabbatical from basketball to further improve his well-being.
Wong’s agency, Titan Management Group, posted on social media on Thursday, March 7 that the 28-year old guard is taking a break on basketball to ‘recharge physically and mentally.”
"After careful consideration, I've chosen to take a step back from playing basketball for the meantime. This decision stems from a personal need to recharge physically and mentally," Wong said.
"I believe that this is in my best interest as I'll be able to spend much needed time with my family and girlfriend."
Furthermore, the former Ateneo Blue Eagle gave gratitude to his family, fans, the FiberXers, and the PBA for accepting his decision to.
“I appreciate the understanding and support of everybody around me, especially my family and friends, the players and management of the Converge FiberXers, and the rest of the PBA community,” he concluded.
Wong, the fifth overall pick of the 2019 PBA Draft by the Rain or Shine, spent three years with the Elasto Painters before signing with the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots in 2022.
While wearing a Magnolia uniform, Wong showed a glimpse of his talent when he won the MVP honors in the 2023 PBA All-Star Rookies Sophomores Juniors (RSJ) game after dropping 29 points to lead Team Greats defeated Team Stalwarts, 158-138.
However, later that month in April, Wong, along with a first round pick, was traded to the FiberXers in exchange for Abu Tratter and David Murrell.

Wong managed to only play limited minutes under coach Aldin Ayo, averaging 1.22 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in last conference's Commissioner's Cup where Converge finished as the league’s cellar dweller team behind a 1-10 win-loss record.
