Scottie Thompson has spent the first three games of Ginebra on the bench because to a nagging back injury.
For the third straight game, Ginebra star Scottie Thompson was in street clothes.
This time, though, Thompson watched on as Meralco smothered Ginebra 91-73, in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Friday, March 15.
Thompson is nursing a nagging back pain, one that’s lingering and bothered him since his college days with Perpetual in the NCAA.
“Frustrated sa sarili ko kasi wala akong ibang magawa, hindi ako makatulong,” Thompson said after the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“But hindi naman din guaranteed na kung nandoon ako, maganda yung lalaruin namin. Frustrated lang kasi nga hindi ako nakatulong sa team.”
Adding to his woes was the fact that he likely won’t make the All-Star Game next weekend in Bacolod.
He is supposed to play for Team Japeth that also features Ginebra teammates Christian Standhardinger, Jamie Malonzo, Maverick Ahanmisi, and Stanley Pringle.
“I doubt sa All-Star aabot. April siguro. For now, wino-work ko yung way na makabalik talaga,” he said when asked if he will join the All-Star festivities.
At the rate things are going, it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing Thompson in a Ginebra jersey again.
“May target ako in mind na sana makabalik talaga, pero so far, sa doctor, wala pa talagang timetable,” he said.
