Holt paced Brgy. Ginebra to a resounding 119-91 demolition of the NLEX Road Warriors in Group B action of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, September 3.
The reigning Rookie of the Year played his best game yet in a Gin Kings uniform, pouring a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, he also added six assists for good measure.
After absorbing a shocking loss against the Blackwater Bossing in their last outing, the Gin Kings looked every little bit of their usual dominant form in this lopsided showdown vs. NLEX.
Ginebra exploded for 36 first quarter points and led by 20 in the opening half. The Gin Kings then had their largest lead at 100-67 early in the fourth.
NLEX cut Ginebra’s lead to 19 in a bid to start a form of uprising, but Holt drilled two triples to pad their lead back to 25 points, 114-89, with 3:31 to go.
The Tim Cone-led squad improved to a 2-2 record in Group B, tying the San Miguel Beermen for third place behind pool leaders Rain or Shine (4-0) and NLEX (3-2).
