Like a lion stalking his prey, Joshua Munzon waited patiently for TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to make an emergency pass going for a drive against two NorthPort defenders.

When Hollis-Jefferson finally did, Munzon intercepted that and scored on the breakaway layup on the other end of the court.

That sequence encapsulated Munzon’s importance in the Batang Pier’s 100-95 win over TNT in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Munzon, who bagged his second Best Player of the Game honors this conference, was simply trying to be aggressive as he displays self-belief against the Tropang Giga.

"I was just trying to be aggressive in those moments. I believe in myself,” Munzon said after the match at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

He finished with 20 points, three rebounds, two assists and four steals.

NorthPort thus sailed to its fourth straight win, which was the result of the Batang Pier believing in each other.

“We all believe in each other. We’re sharing the ball. Everybody took their turns, had their chances,” Munzon said.

“I'm thankful my teammates found me, and I'm happy I was able to come through for them.”

Indeed, it was a collective effort.

NorthPort registered 25 assists, while also putting up 15 steals and nine blocks in the game.

All these they did against the back-to-back Governors’ Cup champion Tropang Giga.

“It was big. We definitely knew they’re going to give us their best game. For us to be 4-0 right now, it's big for us,” Munzon said.

NorthPort looks to sustain its fine play in the mid-season conference as it goes for win No. 5 on Thursday, Dec. 12, against Converge.
