Meralco ended its two-game slump after holding off Eastern, 88-83, in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Sunday, Jan. 5.

The Bolts improved to 4-2 while spoiling the Hong Kong-based squad's start to the new year.

Eastern absorbed a third loss in nine matches in the mid-season tournament.

Meralco will hardly rest as it faces TNT on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
