Mikey Williams was among the audience as Chot Reyes' TNT Tropang Giga subdued the Ginebra Gin Kings in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup.
TNT coach Chot Reyes bared he is not in talks with Mikey Williams for a possible contract in the foreseeable future.
This after Williams watched the Tropang Giga deflate Ginebra, 91-86, in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Friday, Jan. 17.
The outspoken mentor said communication between the two parties have been radio silent for quite a while now after a well-documented contract dispute.
“We haven’t spoken in a while. There was a time we’ve been in touch. We’ve been in touch with his agents. Ang dami niyang agents na nakausap ko. Hindi ko na alam kung sino talaga,” said Reyes after TNT claimed its sixth consecutive win in eight games.
“But since then, we’ve had radio silence for, perhaps, I don’t know kung one year na. At least six months already," he added.
After TNT won the 2023 Governors’ Cup championship with Williams, efforts to make the enigmatic guard stay with the Tropang Giga proved futile.
Now set to reinforce Strong Group Athletics in the Dubai International BasKetball Championship with the likes of Andray Blatche and Demarcus Cousins, Williams underscored his desire to play for TNT in the PBA again.

“Kind of heartfelt. I want to be out there with them,” said Williams in a separate interview.
“There are some things that still need to be addressed. Definitely miss them [and I] love seeing them as well. I just wish I could compete with them. Only time will tell if it’s possible.”

Reyes seemed open to negotiations again.
“He knows my number; he knows how to get in touch with me. I always say I’m just a message or a phone call away,” Reyes said.
“But we didn’t allow it to affect us. It wasn’t even in our minds throughout the game.”
