The San Miguel Beermen are hell-bent on making up for a disastrous PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup.
After a forgettable PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup, San Miguel is making an upgrade.
The Beermen acquired big man JM Calma from the NorthPort Batang Pier in a trade the league approved on Wednesday, April 2.
He is a valuable addition for the Beermen who missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

In exchange, the Beermen sent sparingly-used rookie Avan Nava and a 2025 second round pick to the Batang Pier.
Calma, though, is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in a game against Ginebra in the Philippine Cup last season.
Before going down with the injury in April 2024, the 6-foot-6 cager was averaging 7.9 points and five rebounds for the Batang Pier.
