Sedrick Barefield and the Blackwater Bossing aim to turn the page and start strong when they face the Magnolia Hotshots in their PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup opener on Saturday, April 5.

The match is set at 5:00 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate.

Blackwater, coming off back-to-back playoff misses in the season’s first two conferences, enters the All-Filipino tournament eager to rewrite its story.

With Rey Suerte now with Converge following a February trade for BJ Andrade, the Bossing will lean on their youth movement, led by rookie guard Barefield, Christian David, and James Kwekuteye.

Coach Jeff Cariaso, recently honored as one of the PBA’s 50 Greatest Players, will try to steer his squad into contention as they test their mettle against a perennial contender in Magnolia.

With no imports to lean on this time, it’s up to Blackwater’s new core to prove they belong in the playoff conversation.
