Danny Seigle finally got his due recognition, with the former San Miguel ace taking his rightful and well-deserved place among the PBA's 50 Greatest Players.
Danny Seigle had to cancel his flight to Japan when he received the good news from prominent broadcaster Quinito Henson.
Seigle had to change his plans, as "Dynamite Danny" was now a member of the PBA’s 50 Greatest Players.
“I just got back to Manila. My good friend Dean Quinito called me up and gave me the good news. Actually, I'm supposed to be in Japan right now,” he said when the league honored the 10 new members of the elite club with a gala last April 11, two days after the PBA's 50th anniversary.

“He's like, you have to cancel your flight. You have to go. I moved my flight. I'm actually leaving tomorrow morning. I couldn't miss this.”
The former San Miguel ace didn’t hide his excitement after finally being recognized as one of the PBA’s best.
“Well, I was hoping, I was praying [to be included]. I know there was a lot of conversation about not making the Top 40. But I'm here in the present, I'm very happy now,” Seigle said.
Not a few thought this inclusion was long overdue.
Seigle is an eight-time PBA champion, a four-time Finals MVP, and two-time Best Player of the Conference, with his best years being highlighted when he was a scoring machine for the mighty Beermen.
He won the PBA rookie of the Year in 1999 and became a member of the Mythical First Team thrice. Seigle is also an eight-time All-Star, among other awards.
But Seigle was just glad to finally earn his space among the greats in the pantheon of Philippine basketball.

“I don't know about that. For me, I totally respect and completely respect the process and the selection committee,” he said.
“I'm just stuck in the moment right now and happy to be here.”
