Tables were turned in the Cool Smashers' last set against the Lady Troopers.
When the middle blocker gets blocked, set up the attack... for the setter?
It was a light moment for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the third set against the Army Black Mamba-Energy Drink on Tuesday.
Up 8-3, setter and co-captain Jia De Guzman set up a quick attack for middle blocker Ced Domingo—which promptly got blocked. Michele Gumabao got the dig, which inadvertently headed towards the middle. Ced Domingo, already facing her setter, sent it to De Guzman, who jumped for the soft spike.
It went through.
De Guzman, who reigns as the top setter in the conference so far with an average of 7.76 per set, finished the match with five points, four excellent digs, and 17 excellent sets.
Reigning conference MVP and top scorer, Tots Carlos, who had 17 points, was giggling when asked to rate De Guzman's spike.
"One million infinity over ten!" Carlos told One Sports. "Anytime, kahit anong pwesto, pwede na si Ate Jia."
"Yung spike niya kanina very smart, very... Ate Jia!" She said, laughing.
"One excellent set for Ceddyyy!" Domingo posted in her Instagram story, "100% spiking efficiency for you!"
Creamline's second stringers Rose Vargas, Risa Sato, and Rizza Mandapat stepped up to get the sweep against the Army-Black Mamba Energy Drink. But they would need to be in full strength when they face the PLDT High Speed Hitters, fresh off their fourth straight win, next Tuesday.
