Weekend? Spend it with the community, of course.
Rachel Anne Daquis has become a pillar and household name of Philippine volleyball.
While that means all the fame and glory, it’s no secret that Daquis has remained humble and grounded. Put simply, she’s not the type of person whom you will tell to “touch grass”—as today’s lingo goes.
On Sunday, even if her team, the Cignal HD Spikers, were coming off a painful loss, Daquis and her family made the effort to go to Tanay, Rizal to visit the Dumagat tribe.
They brought with them goodies that include bags, bucket hats, and of course, food. All these gifts brought smiles to the men, women, and children who were present in the outreach.
Daquis and crew also gave out volleyballs, and the outside hitter even played with some of the girls in the community.
The locals, on the other hand, also showed a special number for the visitors.
Daquis, who also lives in Rizal, is especially glad to spend time with her neighbors in the province.
“Nakatira ako sa Taytay, so isa rin akong Rizaleño. Happy ako na nakabisita ako rito sa lugar n’yo,” the former FEU Tamaraw said as she addressed the tribe.
“Sana magustuhan n’yo ‘yung mga simpleng regalo namin para sa inyo.”
