It was nothing serious, fortunately.
The grind never stops for the country's top volleybelles, and that is certainly true for Mika Reyes and the rest of the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
And, on Thursday, Reyes herself offered up a glimpse of what goes on when the High Speed Hitters are training. Only this time, Reyes showed what is pretty much a workout fail of sorts.
In an Instagram Story, Reyes is seen working on her hips and core with the tried-and-tested weighted hip thrust. And the 29-year-old PLDT ace certainly piled on the weights, racking 57.5 kilograms on both ends for a grand total of 115 kilograms for this particular set.
But as Reyes began the set, there was a bit of a problem: Teammate Rachel Austero was in the way, leading to Reyes hitting her head on Austero’s side. Curiously, someone not shown in the video—presumably another High Speed Hitter—shouted at the former College of St. Benilde Lady Blazer to get out of the way but was too late the hero, apparently. Take a look:
Fortunately, the incident was nothing serious, and both Reyes and Austero just laughed it off. It appears, though, that it wasn’t the first time something like that happened, as Reyes can be heard saying, “Lagi na lang” and alluding to a previous similar incident.
Whatever the case may be, it is an encouraging sign that the High Speed Hitters are having fun even as they are hard at work preparing for the next conference. The PVL's season-ending tourney
is reportedly another All-Filipino Conference, which would surely test PLDT and everybody else.
