The Flying Titans will be looking to build off their VTV Cup success.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans are heading to the PVL’s second All-Filipino Conference feeling good about themselves after securing the franchise’s first-ever podium finish in the VTV Cup—a feat that got Choco Mucho fans on cloud nine.
And fans might be right to expect more from the Flying Titans in this upcoming conference, especially if the team can apply what Bea de Leon describes as “a key learning” in that tournament in Vietnam.
‘Yung VTV Cup was a good experience for us. Grabe ‘yung experience kasi kada kalaban iba ‘yung sistema na kinailangan namin i-overcome,” de Leon told One Sports in an exclusive interview. “So, in terms of adjusting, in terms of experience, talagang ang laking tulong sa ‘min. It really thought us more on the side of strategy… The fast adjustment for us was a key learning.”
Indeed, it was a tough grind for the Flying Titans over in Vietnam with the tight schedule and the quality of competition. That they adjusted on the fly and figured out ways to win speaks volumes about the teams growing maturity—something de Leon expects to see more of in the next conference.
“In this conference, what we really want to see in terms of character is just the maturity in everything. Again, from the adjustment, to the quick learning, especially within the game,” de Leon pointed out. “I think ‘yun ‘yung mga crucial na kailangan namin na matutunan ‘cause the system is there. But depende ‘yan sa makakalaban mo araw-araw, depende sa sitwasyon na nangyayari. Kailangan namin mag-adjust kaagad.”
That maturity and ability to adjust quickly will be tested right on opening week as Choco Mucho is set to face the Creamline Cool Smashers, a team the Flying Titans have yet to beat ever.
