She topscored for PLDT in the win against Akari.
PLDT High Speed Hitters newbie Savannah Davison is getting the hang of playing in the PVL.
Davison looked more comfortable on the court when the High Speed Hitters trounced the Akari Chargers, 25-16, 25-16, 25-23, in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
The 5-foot-9 spiker finished with 19 points, none bigger than the match-sealing kill as PLDT clinched its first victory in the season-ending conference.
“I think the first game kinda took me by surprise,” said Davison, who scored 17 points in a loss to the Cignal HD Spikers, who were missing some key players.
“The fans are amazing, supportive. But when you come from somewhere else it looks different, right?”
Two games into her maiden conference, the Filipino-Canadian player admitted that she came into the game “calm” and it did wonders for the High Speed Hitters.
“I’m glad that I’m all acclimated, I’m used to it now. I just kinda went to this game as calm as I could be,” said Davison, who is filling the void left by injured Jovy Prado. “I feel like when the team’s calm, we]ll be great.”
Davison has a beefed up credential, having played for the University of Oklahoma and New Mexico State University.
That’s why the US NCAA Division I hitter is expected to take the same major role when the High Speed Hitters take on Farm Fresh Foxies on October 24.
Game time is set at 4 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
