The Cool Smashers got to show off their depth in the victory.
The Creamline Cool Smashers grabbed their third win in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference after making quick work of the Gerflor Defenders 25-15, 25-12, 25-10, at Ynares Centre in Antipolo City.
The defending champions quickly dominated the Defenders from the get-go as their substitutes saw extended action in the match.
Michele Gumabao led the Cool Smashers with 12 points built on 10 attacks, one block, and an ace. Aside from Gumabao, 10 players from Creamline also scored at least a point versus Gerflor.
“I think makikita naman talaga ng lahat na nanood na kahit sino ipasok, our goal is to really just deliver and contribute for the team,” Gumabao said during the post-game press conference.
“Kahit sa practice inuumpisahan namin ‘yun na ready kami lahat.”
Coach Sherwin Meneses likewise stressed the importance of being able to play their substitutes.
“Siyempre ‘yung opportunity na maipasok sa loob napaka-halaga sa team namin kasi ‘yung mga bench player namin pang-first six din,” said Meneses. “Tinitignan namin ngayon kung ano mas best sa team. It’s a good problem para sa aming mga coaches.”
Creamline will take a two-week break before their next match against the Petro Gazz Angels on November 9 at the Philsports Arena.
Gerflor, meanwhile, is still looking for its first win in the league as they face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
