Chery Tiggo refused to just roll over and die.
On the day she turned 27, Jema Galanza shone brightest for the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Galanza got her wish, too, as the Cool Smashers hammered out a 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 25-16 win over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday.
The 5-foot-7 spiker finished with 16 points, including the down-the-line shot that put Creamline up, 22-15, in the fourth set before Jeanette Panaga finished it off with a runner a little later.
The former Adamson Lady Falcon was consistent on both ends from start to finish and also had two blocks and a service ace.
“Sobrang happy kasi naging maganda laro ng lahat,” said Galanza after the match at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cool Smashers remained undefeated in nine games, and, like the rest of her teammates, she attributed that to the system coach Sherwin Meneses and his staff have put in place.
“Focus lang namin malaro namin kung ano tine-training namin at sistema. Palapit na palapit semis, so mas kailangan namin ma-perfect mga galaw namin sa court,” she said.
While they are assured of post-eliminations play, the Cool Smashers look like they want to continue humming. After all, they need the momentum and the confidence going into the semifinals.
“Train lang uli tomorrow. Gagawin lang namin mga ipapagawa ng coaches,” said Galanza, whose team still has games against the Akari Chargers and Galeries Towers to finish off the eliminations.
Best believe Galanza and the rest of the Cool Smashers won't be letting their guard down anytime soon.
