The Choco Mucho Flying Titans made sure there was no reverse sweep this time as they blanked the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-23, 25-22,25-22, in Game 2 of PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference semifinals on Saturday.

Despite the meltdown in the series opener, Sisi Rondina said the Flying Titans came to Game 2 hell-bent on extending the best-of-three series.

“Siyempre po, sinabi ko kanina na hindi pa tapos kasi best-of-three ito. Ginawa lang namin best namin. Going here naka-mindset kaming manalo,” she said shortly after the match at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

She then shared something she learned from former collegiate coach and now Chery Tiggo Crossovers mentor Kungfu Reyes.

“Sabi ko nga, paulit-ulit, giyera ‘to, so dapat pumunta kaming ready. Nakuha ko ‘yun kay Coach Kungfu,” she said.

And boy was she ready.

The high-flying spiker was at the forefront of Choco Mucho’s attack as she finished with 23 points on 20 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.

The former UST Golden Tigress conspired with Kat Tolentino and Chery Nunag in the crucial stretch in the third set to avert another meltdown and finish off the HD Spikers for good.

Jovelyn Gonzaga, who helped Cignal chip away at a four-point deficit in the final frame, ironically committed the service error that sealed the win for the Flying Titans.

“Personally disadvantage ko ‘yung height,” said the 5-foot-6 spiker. “Pero what I did is, ginawa ko ‘yung trabaho na binigay sa’kin. Wala ako ibang ginawa kundi, hanggang nasa taas bola ipupuntos ko kasi ayaw kong mapagod si Deanna (Wong) at mga kasama ko.”

Game 3 is on Tuesday at the same venue.
