The HD Spikers drew first blood in the battle for bronze.
Cignal HD Spikers young gun Vanie Gandler was still gasping for air when she sat down for an interview with One Sports’ Kyla Kingsu on Thursday.
This after firing 21 points in a 25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 win over Chery Tiggo Crossovers in Game 1 of the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference battle for bronze.
Though they fell short of punching a trip to the finals, the HD Spikers still gave it their all in the best-of-three opener.
“We came from a tough loss but we know the fight’s not over so we’re trying to go for the bronze,” said Gandler, whose team fell prey to Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the semifinals.
But the job’s not done.
Coming off a tight schedule bridging the semifinals and the battle for bronze, rest is what the HD Spikers need before trying to finish the Crossovers off on Saturday.
“The job’s not done. We’re gonna focus on our recovery and tomorrow we’re gonna practice again,” she said.
Gametime is set at 4 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
