DUGONG TAMARAW: Fernandez embraces new PVL home alongside FEU greats
Fernandez will be the latest FEU standout in the HD Spikers.
Cignal has a new project, and it comes close to home.

A hub for former FEU Lady Tamaraws in the PVL, the HD Spikers add another from the storied Morayta volleyball club with the recent signing of former UAAP Best Opposite Spiker Jov Fernandez.

Fernandez, coming over from the disbanded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, will be the latest FEU standout in the HD Spikers, who despite losing Jerrili Malabanan, still have Gel Cayuna, Gyzelle Sy, Chin Basas, Gen Casugod, Rachel Anne Daquis, and head coach Shaq De Los Santos

“I am particularly thrilled about the prospect of learning and growing under the mentorship of Coach Shaq,” Fernandez said.

“And feel ko iba talaga ang connection since we came from FEU, may dugong Tamaraw,” she added.

Cignal, the team with the second-most podium finishes in the PVL since the league turned pro, will be no stranger to taking in younger talent.

The first offseason splash by the HD Spikers from the 2023 season was Vanie Gandler straight out of Ateneo, and she was a revelation in the 2nd All-Filipino Conference alongside Invitational Conference MVP Ces Molina.

Fernandez could be next in line in Cignal’s development projects, and she looks up for it.

“As I enter a new team I’m eager to absorb more, knowing na hindi lang ito mage-enhance ng skills ko but also to contribute the knowledge I have in volleyball,” she said.

“I want to show more and contribute more with this team.”
