PVL: Chery Tiggo secures quarterfinals slot after battering ZUS Coffee in Reinforced Conference

The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are through to the quarterfinals of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference after sweeping the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday, August 17.

In the third set, the Crossovers steered clear ahead after going on a 5-0 run led by import Khat Bell and setter Joyme Cagande for a 19-13 lead.

Dolly Verzosa and Ypril Tapia managed to cut the lead to just two points after back-to-back hits, but Bell closed the door on the Thunderbelles as she scored the team’s last three points, sealing the win with a crosscourt hit.

Bell finished with a game-high 28 points on 24 attacks and four blocks as Chery Tiggo kept ZUS Coffee winless in the tournament. Mylene Paat contributed 11 markers in the win.

Asaka Tamaru was the lone double-digit scorer for ZUS Coffee with 12 points.

The Crossovers will face the Petro Gazz Angels in their final game of the preliminaries on Thursday, August 22 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Thunderbelles, on the other hand, will look end their campaign with a victory against the Creamline Cool Smashers, also on Thursday.
