Veteran playmaker Ivy Perez takes her services to a young team in Nxled after her return stint with the Petro Gazz Angels.
Veteran setter Ivy Perez will don new colors as she suits up for the Nxled Chameleons in the ongoing 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, the team announced on Monday, November 11.
After her return to Petro Gazz last year, Perez now begins a new journey with the Chameleons, who are building off of a young core with players like Lucille Almonte, Chiara Permentilla, May Luna, and Jaja Maraguinot.
“Her leadership, veteran presence, and crafty playmaking skills will definitely add stability to our young squad,” wrote the team’s announcement.
Perez has won multiple medals in the PVL — including bronze finishes in the 2021 Open Conference and the 2024 All-Filipino Conference, both with the Petro Gazz Angels.
The announcement welcoming her to the team was also made right after Nxled also revealed the signing of middle blocker Jeycel Delos Reyes.
The team is heading into the conference with new leadership as Italian coach Ettore Guidetti is set to be at the helm in the months-long conference.
Along with the addition of Perez, and Delos Reyes, the Nxled Chameleons will seek a better showing in the All-Filipino Conference, after missing out on the quarterfinals last time around.
In the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference, Nxled finished just 10th among the 12 teams.
The Nxled Chameleons will hope to gain early contributions from Perez and the rest of the team when they open their All-Filipino campaign against a tough PLDT High Speed Hitters team on Tuesday, November 12.
They open the hostilities in a double header at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
