Brooke Van Sickle was all praises for Myla Pablo as the two led the Petro Gazz Angels to a clean sweep of the Cignal HD Spikers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Petro Gazz Angels once again leaned on their two superstars to drub the Cignal HD Spikers in straight sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday, December 14.
Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo continued their impressive string of performances for the Angels in the dominant win, putting up 19 and 15 points, respectively.
The win marked Petro Gazz’s fourth straight win, putting them atop the standings to end the year with a 5-1 record.
“Siguro kinuha talaga namin ‘yung momentum namin sa mga three wins. Kaya sabi namin tulong-tulong lang kami as a team. Kung ano ginagalaw ngayon, kailangan tuloy-tuloy kami,” Pablo said during the post-game press conference.
“It’s good to be able to win in three against Cignal. They’re a very very good team, they’re very scrappy, they know how to win, so I’m very proud leaving on a high note before Christmas,” Van Sickle added.
The reigning All-Filipino Conference MVP also singled out Pablo for the job she’s been doing for the Angels in their strong start to the extended conference.
Pablo has been on fire as of late, scoring double-digits in Petro Gazz’s past four games—all of which have resulted in wins.
Because of this, Van Sickle has been having an easier time delivering time in and time out for the Koji Tsuzurabara-mentored squad.
“Myla Pablo’s a fantastic player. They don’t call her ‘Typhoon Pablo’ for nothing. She definitely has all the shots like a wicked wind hit,” said Van Sickle.
“She’s just confident like you see her on the court like something doesn’t happen, she goes okay next one. It’s really refreshing to be next to her and have someone like calm, collected, and just firing,” she added.
For her part, Pablo is repaying the minutes being given to her as she looks to contribute to the team in any way she can.
“Kinuha ko ‘yung kumpyansa ko sa sarili ko and also sa teammates and coaches kumbaga kung ano ‘yung binigay sa aking role sa team kailangan mag-trabaho ako kasi siyempre minsan lang ako bigyan ng chance to play bakit di ko pa gawin yung best ko,” said Pablo.
