Fil-Canadian hitter Savi Davison now feels as connected with her Filipino family as her Canadian family whom she grew up with.
There were a lot of highs and lows in 2024 for Filipino-Canadian player Savi Davison, as she dealt with injury in her second PVL season with the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Now in the midst of a clean slate in the ongoing 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Davison looked back on her biggest highlights of the year — which centered on her new-found life in the Philippines.
After being born and raised in Canada, Davison has since settled down in the Philippines owing to her long-time contract with the High Speed Hitters. Since first landing in Manila, she’s now established her roots in her home country.
Speaking about the biggest changes in her 2024, Davison highlighted a milestone as she now owns her first property in the country.
“I bought my first property. So I think that’s a very big highlight,” Davison told One Sports.
“It was also our first full year here in the Philippines come October. So that was really good.”
But more than her material accomplishments and properties, Davison was more delighted at how her relationship flourished with her Filipino family.
Having been with her Philippine-based relatives since signing with PLDT, she said that she has since been able to connect more with her other family, which wasn’t as easy when she was still staying in Canada.
During the Holiday season, the 25-year-old relished her new life in the Philippines.
“I think, altogether, just being more in touch with my Filipino family. We’re like this [close] now. Before it was kind of like, iffy, facetimes lang. Just separated,” said Davison.
“But I feel like I’m just as connected to my Canadian family as I am with my Filipino family now. So it just makes my heart super, super full,” she added.
A fit-again Davison has been pivotal for the High Speed Hitters as they currently tout a 3-2 slate in the months-long conference.
PLDT will return to action on January 18 with a grudge match against Reinforced Conference tormentor, the Akari Chargers in a triple-header which also features Farm Fresh Foxies against the NXLED Chameleons, and the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
