Czarina Carandang set to miss time for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers as she recovers from surgery.
Chery Tiggo will be missing Czarina Carandang until further notice after the middle blocker underwent surgery, the team announced on Monday.
Carandang, who already missed Chery Tiggo’s game against ZUS Coffee last Tuesday, had an appendectomy and will be out indefinitely as she recovers from the procedure. According to the Crossovers, Carandang is already out of the hospital.
“We regret to announce that Czarina Carandang will be out until further notice due to her recent appendectomy. She has been discharged and is now recovering at home with her family,” the team’s statement read.
“We can’t wait to have you on the court with us again,” they added.
Carandang’s recovery is a hit for the Crossovers, who are still waiting for Imee Hernandez’ return from injury. Despite being teased earlier this conference, Hernandez has not yet returned to action.
Hernandez, however, returned to training in late January.
The team’s signing of former Creamline star Risa Sato becomes timely as she beefs up the injury-laden middle blocker rotation with skipper Aby Maraño and Seth Rodriguez.
Currently, Chery Tiggo are 5-4 and are 6th in the standings.
The Crossovers face off with the still-undefeated Creamline Cool Smashers on Thursday, February 6.
Should Sato be inserted into the lineup while Carandang recovers, she will make her debut for Chery Tiggo against her former team.
