Fifi Sharma suffered a left ankle injury in the opening set of Akari’s Game 2 PVL quarterfinal match against Galeries Tower, forcing the middle blocker to exit the game in a wheelchair and leaving her status uncertain.
Akari’s quarterfinal battle against Galeries Tower in Game 2 took an unfortunate turn as middle blocker Fifi Sharma suffered a left ankle injury early in the match.
Sharma landed awkwardly in the opening frame, immediately grimacing in pain before being helped off the court.
The injury appeared serious enough that she had to be wheelchaired to the locker room, leaving the Chargers without one of their defensive anchors.
The extent of Sharma’s injury remains unclear, but her absence will be a major blow for Akari as they fight to move on to the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.
With her status uncertain, the Chargers will have to rely on their remaining middle blockers in Game 2 with the Highrisers taking the first set, 25-19.
