PVL fans have yet to see Alyssa Valdez back on the court this 2023.
Will she or won’t she? Fans have been wondering if Creamline Cool Smashers’ star Alyssa Valdez will make her highly anticipated return in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
To help ease their questions, Valdez posted on Twitter a short update on her recovery. She also thanked the fans for their prayers and concern.
According to the statement posted by Creamline, which Valdez reposted in her tweet, the former PVL MVP underwent a procedure that will allow for a faster recovery.
Details of the procedure were not disclosed. There is also no specific timeline for Ate Ly's return.
Creamline did say that Valdez "will be back soon enough."
Prior to this development, coach Sherwin Meneses said the return of the Ateneo alum in the All-Filipino Conference the team was within the realm of possibility. The team also said before that the 29-year-old did not need any surgery to recover from her injury.
Valdez has been out since December after her she injured her right knee during Creamline’s bronze-clinching five-set win over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2022 Reinforced Conference.
While she has been constantly posting about her rehabilitation journey, it is possible Valdez will remain out for a significant amount of time.
Nonetheless, the Cool Smashers have been holding down the fort. As of Saturday, the team holds a 4-1 record in the conference.
