La Salle's Thea Gagate not satisfied yet in Season 85

La Salle

The La Salle Lady Spikers have plenty to celebrate early in the UAAP Season 85 Women's Volleyball Tournament.

First, they are unbeaten in three games and currently hold the top spot in the rankings. Second, the ladies from Taft just swept their rivals Ateneo Blue Eagles in their first meeting this season. There's also the super rookie Angel Canino.

The Lady Spikers are reaping all of these early victories even without legendary coach Ramil de Jesus at the helm, and sophomore spiker Alleiah Malaluan has yet to play too because of a knee injury.

La Salle is perfectly in sync and players echo each other's sentiments on playing for the team.

"Of course credits pa rin sa lahat kasi nilabas namin kung anong pinag-training namin," La Salle middle blocker Thea Gagate said after their win against Ateneo.

Gagate herself had a season-best 10 points in the sweep. Although, the 6-foot-2 tower admits she expects more from herself.

"As for my performance, kulang pa rin for me," she admitted.

The reigning 1st Best Middle Blocker, like the rest Lady Spikers, knows very well that there are lots of work to be done, and there are no shortcuts to reach her full potential.

"Unti-unti lang, tsaka tiyaga."
