Coach O and his wards will be gunning for solo fourth place in the standings during their next game.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles dropped to a 1-2 slate after losing to the surging De La Salle Lady Spikers in straight sets on Sunday.
The victors dominated the match, led by their super rookie Angel Canino who scored 23 points. Ateneo’s mentor Oliver Almadro, however, remained calm, and seemed to be looking ahead after the setback.
When asked about his assessment of the Blue Eagles’ performance, Coach O was quick to point out how confidence played a big factor in the outcome.
“Pinipilit na namin na everyone should gain confidence. Unfortunately, hindi nagsabay-sabay ‘yung confidence ng bawat isa,” Almadro said after the game.
When it comes to addressing his squad’s confidence issue, the veteran strategist is taking a pragmatic approach.
“Confidence is nakukuha through tuloy-tuloy na repetitions ng [mga] ginagawa. So, I guess we have to do more, work more on the things na kulang ‘yung confidence namin,” the decorated tactician explained.
Basically, Almadro is saying that continuously working on their weaknesses will help the Blue Eagles build enough confidence to overcome their perceived disadvantages. Holding on to that principle, Almadro sounds more than positive that Ateneo will have no problems recovering.
“I’m sure we’ll bounce back,” Almadro claimed.
UAAP Season 85 Women’s Volleyball action continues on Wednesday, wherein Coach Oliver and the Blue Eagles will look to bounce back against the FEU Lady Tamaraws.
