FEU men’s volleyball team looking to correct two aspects of play

The Far Eastern University Tamaraws continued their hot streak in the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament following their four-set victory over the De La Salle Green Spikers, 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21.

The Tamaraws displayed poise in the fourth set as they denied a possible La Salle comeback.

Mark Calado carried the load for FEU with 27 big points, including 23 attacks, 3 blocks, and an ace, while Martin Bugaoan contributed 12 points.

Despite the gutsy win, Calado admits the work is never done.

“Marami pa po talagang kailangan i-improve,” he said. The spiker believes the team has ways to go in staying composed and in effectively communicating on the court.

For coach Rey Diaz, there are a lot more items in the to-improve list. He, however, is not going to overlook the positives his boys has shown in Saturday’s game.

With the win, FEU now has a 4-1 record, slotting them in second place behind the undefeated National University Bulldogs. DLSU, on the other hand, saw their three-game winning streak come to an end and fall to a 3-2 record.

The Tamaraws will next face the University of the East Red Warriors on Wednesday, March 15.
