The UE Red Warriors absorbed a tough loss last Sunday, denting their chances to reach the Final Four of UAAP Season 86.
But the fighters in red are still trying to make a late push to make it to the semifinals for the first time since 2009.
On Monday, UE star Rey Remogat shared a series of photos on Instagram after their 86-76 defeat to the De La Salle Green Archers. He put up 22 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in a heroic effort.
Remogat wrote in the caption: "When you can’t, God can."
In the comments, he got much-needed encouragement from UE legend Paul Lee. And the Magnolia Hotshots star made sure to push his fellow Red Warrior further.
"Keep it going brotha!!!" Lee commented.
"Thank you, Kuya," Remogat, who has been carrying UE all season, replied.
Lee was the one who spearheaded UE in its last Final Four stint 14 years ago, getting ample help from Elmer Espiritu, Pari Llagas, Val Acuña, and Rudy Lingganay. They advanced all the way to the finals but lost to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in three games.
The current Red Warriors are 4-8 and are lagging in the tight race for the last Final Four spot, with Ateneo at 6-6 and the Adamson Soaring Falcons at 5-7.
UAAP statistician Pong Ducanes noted that UE still has a shot, especially if Remogat and company can manage to close out games.
Ducanes said in six of their eight losses this season, the Red Warriors were actually leading at some point in the fourth quarter or were at least within four points of their opponents.
Curiously, the Red Warriors will be facing Ateneo and Adamson for their last two games.
They would first need to secure a victory against the Blue Eagles this Wednesday to stay in the hunt.
