KQ is going for back-to-back championships!
Shortly after helping the La Salle Green Archers win the UAAP Season 86 championship, Kevin Quiambao was immediately confronted with probably the most important basketball decision yet.
Should he stay with the Green Archers or should he turn pro?
Fortunately for the legion of green-and-white hopefuls, Quiambao announced he is running it back next season.
“After constantly consulting my family and friends, we’re excited to run it back and try to make it B2B!” he said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Reactions on social media, however, were mixed.
Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters Tyler Tio couldn’t help but be happy for the “Pinoy Jokic,” who earned the monicker for his all-around skills, particularly his pinpoint, creative passing.
“Good luck Pinoy Jokic!” said Tio.
Twitter user @_jmterrado was definitely among those who were elated to hear the news.
“Back to back champs? Back to back MVP?” he said on Twitter.
@hailhailgreen shared the same sentiment.
“I LOVE YOU, KEVIN QUIAMBAO! THANK YOU FOR STAYING!!!!” the user said.
This user, though, felt like it could be the wrong decision for the do-it-all forward.
“Mag PRO kana... mag papa-katanda ka rin dyan sa UAAP at mag Rookie Professionally as 25yrs old nah??? Naku po,” he said.
But the positive comments appear to overwhelm the few negative ones, with this Instagram user saying the former Rookie of the Year turned Finals MVP deserves his jersey to be retired one day.
Of course, not that these reactions matter one bit to KQ and the La Salle community. It appears they are happy—and that's all that matters now.
But will Quiambao lead the Green Archers to back-to-back titles? That is a question for another day.
