Ateneo de Manila University fended off the Adamson University to secure a four-set victory, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Wednesday, March 13.

The Blue Eagles dominated the Lady Falcons in the first and second set, as they looked poised for a straight-set victory.

In the third set, Ateneo once again started on a strong note, building a large lead against Adamson.

But despite going down 12-20, the Lady Falcons did not give up and led by Ishie Lalongisip and Lucille Almonte, they went on a huge 13-2 run to snatch the set from the Blue Eagles.

The two teams then went back and forth in the fourth set, exchanging runs and attacks in between. But in the end, it was Ateneo that had that extra push as the Blue Eagles managed to keep their slim lead.

Up 24-22, Jlo Delos Santos committed a service error, which opened the door for the Lady Falcons. But that was quickly denied by Sobe Buena as she secured the victory for Ateneo with an emphatic attack, ending the set at 25-23.

Taks Fujimoto orchestrated Ateneo's attacks with 15 excellent sets along with three points. Lyann De Guzman and Buena, meanwhile, finished with 22 points apiece.

Lalongisip, Almonte, and May Ann Nuique, on the other hand, all finished with 11 points in Adamson's tough loss

With the win, the Blue Eagles move up to fifth in the standings with a 2-4 record, tied with the Lady Falcons.
