After years off the calendar, the iconic Tour of Luzon is officially back on the road, as 117 riders from 17 teams—including four international squads—set off on April 24 for an eight-stage race across Northern and Central Luzon.

Dubbed “The Great Revival,” this 2025 edition marks the long-awaited return of the Philippines’ most historic road cycling event.

Now presented by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), DuckWorld PH, and Cignal TV, the Tour of Luzon kicks off in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, and spans over 1,074.90 kilometers of varied terrain, culminating in a grueling mountain finish inside Camp John Hay in Baguio City on May 1.

“The legendary Tour of Luzon is back,” said Patrick “Pató” Gregorio, president of DuckWorld PH. “Let new cycling legends rise too. This is the first step toward putting Philippine cycling back on the global map.”

This year’s race is sanctioned by PhilCycling and offers a ?1 million cash prize and a year’s possession of the Tour of Luzon perpetual trophy for the team champion.

The individual general classification winner will earn ?500,000 and a uniquely crafted trophy.

The stage breakdown is as follows:

  • Stage 1 (April 24): 190.70 km Paoay loop via Pagudpud
  • Stage 2 (April 25): 68.39 km Paoay to Vigan team time trial
  • Stage 3 (April 26): 130.33 km Vigan to San Juan, La Union
  • Stage 4 (April 27): 162.97 km Agoo to Clark

The race concludes with a punishing 32-kilometer uphill grind to Scout Hill in Camp John Hay, featuring gradients that exceed 20 percent. This queen stage will decide the overall winner and revive the prestigious “Eagle of the Mountain” title, awarded to the first rider to crest the final summit.

“The excitement has bordered on the extreme,” said Arrey Perez, MPTC Chief Regulatory Officer and Executive Director of the Tour. “We’re thrilled to revive this historic summer sports tradition.”

Leading the peloton are the Philippines' four UCI Continental teams—7-Eleven Cliqq, Standard Insurance, Go For Gold, and Victoria Sports Pro Cycling Team—joined by top foreign teams CCN Factory HK (Hong Kong), Malaysia Pro Cycling, Bryton Racing Team (Taiwan), and Gapyeong Cycling Team (South Korea).

Other participating teams include a blend of national and regional squads such as Philippines U23-Tom N Toms Coffee, Excellent Noodles, DReyna Orion Cement, Dandez T-Prime, Exodus Army, MPT Drive Hub, 1 Team Visayas, One Cycling Mindanao, and Team Pangasinan.
