The FEU Lady Tamaraws snatched the last Final Four slot after outlasting the UST Golden Tigresses in five sets during the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Saturday, April 13.
Far Eastern University officially completes the Final Four cast of the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament after a sensational five-set victory against the University of Santo Tomas, 19-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 15-10, at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Malate on Saturday, April 13.
Unlike their first-round encounter, it was the Lady Tamaraws who showed composure in the fifth set to overcome the league-leading Golden Tigresses in front of 3,309 spectators at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium.
Tied at 7-all, FEU would go on to score four-straight points, three of which came from middle blocker Jean Asis.
The Lady Tamaraws' lead proved to be too much for the Golden Tigresses as Regina Jurado's cross-court attack sailed wide, leading to FEU's first victory over UST since Round 1 of Season 81.
Faida Bakanke led the charge for FEU with 21 points on 15 attacks, four blocks, and a service ace. Asis contributed 16 markers while Chen Tagaod added nine in the victory which bumped the Lady Tamaraws to a 7-4 record.
Angge Poyos delivered 20 points in her return but this wasn't enough as UST dropped their second game in Season 86 for a 10-2 record.
