The UE community is alive and kicking in UAAP Season 87.

In the Red Warriors’ match against the NU Bulldogs, the UE community came out to support the team at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday, September 28.

Safe to say, the UE fans were not disappointed as the Red Warriors secured their third-straight win after outlasting the Bulldogs, 57-51, improving to a 3-2 record for solo fourth place.

Success hasn’t really followed the Red Warriors in recent UAAP memory, who have missed the Final Four since 2009. But with a renewed sense of hope this Season 87, the UE community made sure to show some love to their current batch of players that are slowly putting together quite the campaign.

Among those who felt the love is UE’s foreign student-athlete Precious Momowei, who finished with five points and 20 rebounds vs. NU, helping to continue their winning streak.

“I feel like with them being here, it means a lot. Seeing them on the stands and all, we play for them, we just want to win and make them proud at the end of the day because we have been losing for so long, so it feels good to get [three-straight] wins,” Momowei told One Sports.

“It’s been a while. I haven’t seen that much of a crowd, so that’s what you get when you win so we have to keep on winning,” he added.

UE guard John Abate likewise is grateful for the fans who came out to their huge win against NU.

“I’ll just say I appreciate the love. There’s times where the community that I’ve had where people are really not that supportive. Empty bleachers, just have the coaches or refs for next game, so it really means a lot to my heart to have the support of the community,” said Abate.

But it wasn’t just the players; coach Jack Santiago also made sure to thank the UE community, admitting to being surprised by the crowd turnout for a Saturday game.

“For sure, it will bring a lot of help sa team. Two days ago talagang I was surprised by I’m asking for extra ticket pero sold out na lahat,” said Santiago.

“Maybe, just give me this opportunity also to thank the UE community for coming here. Alam namin na it’s [a] Saturday, it’s supposed to be a family day but nandito sila, spent time with us. Thank you for the support.”

UE will look to make it four straight as the Red Warriors face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday, October 2, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
