Justin Brownlee shoved Ginebra past Meralco to get closer to securing a seat in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinals.
Justin Brownlee whipped his magic and Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel edged Meralco, 104-103, in Game 2 of their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinal battle that had the trappings of a classic.
Brownlee finished with 39 big points Saturday night, Sept. 28, including the booming three-pointer in the face of Allen Durham with 10.1 ticks remaining for the final score.
He also had seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks as the Gin Kings moved a win away from the semifinals with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five affair.
Scottie Thompson had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
Meralco had the chance to snatch the game, but Cliff Hodge and Durham were forced to take tough shots in the dying seconds.
“It’s tough,” said Brownlee on his matchup with Durham, who also finished with 39 points for the Bolts.

Durham also collared 14 rebounds, dished out three assists and had a steal, while Chris Newsome added 23 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Hodge added 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.

With their backs against the wall, the Bolts look to get a new lease on life when they collide anew in Game 3 on Monday, Sept. 30 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
