Esports icon Mara Aquino is making her mark in Honor of Kings, stepping in to host the much-anticipated Philippine Kings League (PKL), set to debut on April 11.
A familiar face in the Mobile Legends esports scene, Aquino made headlines earlier this year when she announced her departure from the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL).
In her Facebook post, she shared the reasons behind her decision.
"I’ve come to realize that it’s time for me to step away. This choice was not made lightly, but in my heart, I know it’s the right one,” she reflects.
"Letting go is never easy, but I believe that growth means allowing ourselves to evolve, even when it’s uncomfortable."
Her exit from MPL stirred up rumors, with many speculating that she might be transitioning to Honor of Kings, a platform that has previously welcomed former MPL talents.
Just a few months later, those rumors proved true when Honor of Kings Philippines officially confirmed Aquino’s new role.
"The queen has arrived. Ang inyong hiling, aming tutuparin," the company proudly declared.
"Join Mara Aquino as she hosts the inaugural season of Philippine Kings League, ang #BagongLigaNgBayan!"
The announcement has sparked excitement across the Honor of Kings community, with fans noting they had seen this move coming.
Aquino is set to embark on her exciting new journey as the host of the inaugural season of the Philippine Kings League, marking the debut of Honor of Kings' professional esports scene in the country.
The tournament featured top teams, including Blacklist International, Elevate, Team Flash PH, BOOM Esports, and TNT Tropang Alab, all vying for the prestigious title of Honor of Kings champion.
