Riding a more efficient offensive game, EJ Anosike puts the San Miguel Beermen on the brink of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinals.
From a remarkable debut to an even better follow-up.
After a 28-point introduction two days ago, EJ Anosike turned up a more scintillating performance to power San Miguel to a 107-100 Game 2 win over Converge in their Last Eight battle in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Anosike exploded for 41 points, 17 of which in the pivotal third quarter that allowed the Beermen to turn a 48-51 deficit at the break to a 78-72 lead they protected to the finish.
Now holding a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five contest, San Miguel stands at the threshold of its sixth straight semifinal appearance.
Reiterating his statement after the series opener, Anosike once again pointed on his desire to improve in every game he plays.
“I look forward to getting better after every game,” Anosike told reporters in the post-game press conference.

Seemingly finding his groove from his shots, Anosike flaunted a more efficient game after hitting 14 of his 24 shots for a 58 percent clip in a little more than 44 minutes of playing.
In Game 1, Anosike converted just 29 percent or 7-from-24 from the field.
As for his teammates, BPC front-runner June Mar Fajardo was limited to just 15 points, but Kris Rosales, CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, Terrence Romeo, Don Trollano and Jericho Cruz each contributed on the offensive end in the second half.
“It was a good effort by the team. I think when everyone plays well, the energy is contagious,” Anosike said of his teammates stepping up.

“For me, it was my second game here and I’m happy to be with this group of guys and go out and compete," he said.
